Fluke Thermal imagers.
Fluke Thermal imagers.
When you can see problems before they become emergencies, your job becomes much easier. You can focus your time and budget on the areas of greatest need and you can proactively keep facilities, assets and systems running instead of continually reacting to unexpected failures.
A Fluke thermal imager can save time and money by finding potential problems before they become costly disasters. With Fluke's thermal imagers you can efficiently inspect an entire facility for hidden issues or monitor a thermal process frame-by-frame.

Fluke thermal imagers (sometimes referred to as infrared cameras, thermal cameras, or infrared imagers) capture images of infrared energy or temperature. Using patent-pending IR-Fusion technology, Fluke thermal imagers combine the power of infrared images with visible light images on the same display.
Thermal imaging or thermography, detects heat patterns or temperature changes in objects. These changes allow the user to discover problems prior to costly downtime, or monitor developing problems so maintenance can be scheduled during a planned downtime or when budget is available.

Abnormal heating associated with high resistance or excessive current flow is the main cause of many problems in electrical systems. Infrared thermography allows us to see these invisible thermal signatures of impending damage before the damage occurs. When current flows through an electric circuit, part of the electrical energy is converted into heat energy. This is normal. But, if there is an abnormally high resistance in the circuit or abnormally high current flow, abnormally high heat is generated which is wasteful, potentially damaging and not normal.
Sometimes unwanted heat is generated that result in costly damage. Under-sized conductors, loose connections or excessive current flow may cause abnormally high unwanted heating that result in dangerously hot electrical circuits. Components can literally become hot enough to melt.
Thermal imagers enable us to see the heat signatures associated with high electrical resistance long before the circuit becomes hot enough to cause an outage or explosion. Be aware of two basic thermal patterns associated with electrical failure: 1) a high resistance caused by poor surface contact and 2) an over loaded circuit or multi-phase imbalance problem.

Interestingly Fluke Thermal imagers have also been used by veterinary professionals to help diagnose problems in horses!

What is VDE all about?
What is VDE all about?
VDE stands for Verband der Elektrotechnik .- ok so what does that mean??
It's the Association of German Electrical Engineers, now known by the name “Association for Electrical, Electronic & Information Technologies “.
The VDE Testing and Certification Institute is a nationally and internationally accredited institution in the field of testing and certification of electrical engineering devices, components and systems.
VDE tools are mainly used by electricians when performing their electrical duties. Why do they use VDE tools? They use VDE tools to avoid electrocution- Ok so I now have your attention.
The main objective is one of safety for the person when working on live circuits. By using VDE tools, one can prevent electric shock and serious injury.
VDE tools MUST meet all requirements for working in systems with up to 1,000 VAC or 1,500VDC. The CK range of VDE products are individually tested to 10,000V for safe live working up to 1,000v,they conforms to IEC 60900:2004. Approved and independently audited by the German VDE institute.
Have a look at the Video below, the guy in the Video tried real hard to break some CK VDE products, with some really interesting results. Its a bit slow to start, but interesting as he cranks up the voltage, way in excess of rating of the products! Big sparks!
The products he is testing are the brand CK.
Best regards
